Some of our cab tilt pumps are available in two versions: the standard pump with a steel valve body, and a Lightweight (LW) pump with an aluminium-alloy valve body. This page explains how they differ so you can choose the right one for your truck.
What is the same
Both versions have the same OE fitment, mounting and connections. If the standard pump fits your truck, the LW version of the same model fits it too. The model number is the same, with /LW added at the end, for example RH-HP070 and RH-HP070/LW.
What is different
The Lightweight version has a high-strength aluminium-alloy valve body that is specially treated for high-pressure use. It is built for the same service life as the steel valve body. The main difference is weight. For example, the standard RH-HP070 weighs 2.40 kg net, while RH-HP070/LW weighs 1.55 kg, which is 35% lighter. A lighter pump also means a lighter parcel, so shipping costs less when you order by air or express.
How we test both versions
Every pump is tested before it ships. Each one passes a 35 MPa pressure-hold test and an air-leak test. Pumps are also endurance tested to 200,000 cycles at real cab-tilt pressure (20 to 23 MPa).
Which one should I choose?
If weight and shipping cost matter to you, choose the LW version. If you prefer a traditional steel valve body, choose the standard version. Either way you get the same fitment. Not sure which model you need? Send us the OE number, the VIN or a photo of the old pump and we will check it for you.
